We’ve applied for the Chase Mission Main Street Grants program this year. Mission Main Street is giving out twelve $250,000 grants to small businesses to help them grow. In order to qualify, each business has to get 250 votes by November 15th.
Help Sitters Studio qualify by voting for us!

Casey Mullins over at babble.com has a great photo survey of the Heidelberg Project in Detroit. Started 27 years ago but local resident Tyree Guyton, the Heidelberg Project is about changing lives through art. Over the years participants have transformed their neighborhood and created a vibrant community and international tourist attraction. Not to mention the polkadots!
First off: Congratulations to all the 2013 Nobel Prize Winners in Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace and Economics!
One of the 2013 winners, Thomas Sudhof, who shares this year’s Nobel Prize for medicine and physiology, told The Lancet in August 2010 that his most influential teacher was his bassoon teacher, Herbert Tauscher, who: “…taught me that the only way to do something right is to practice and listen and practice and listen, hours, and hours, and hours.”
It’s really wonderful to confirm again that, no matter where you go in life – even if you become a scientist – a solid foundation in the arts will help along the way. It may even help you win a Nobel Prize!
Congratulations again to Mr. Sudhof and keep practicing!
Sara Neufeld over at Slate has an interesting article on how talking to a child more, and with open-ended questions, can help that child’s development, and possibly even make them smarter. Head on over and learn about Dana Suskind’s Thirty Million Words Project!
Our friends over at Red Tricycle have a great post about outdoor artworks on the High Line that will get your kids excited. Take advantage of the great fall weather this weekend and go take a look!
Here at Studio HQ we love lefties! Actually, in our office 4 out of 8 people are left handed. So we were really excited to see Summer Sanders over at babble.com write about her left-handed son, Spider.
Welcome to the Club, Spider!
